about

After I separated from my husband and everything was said and done with the other man, the depth of our conversation suddenly changed from superficial to meaningful. On some days when I felt like I wasting insane, he kept me well-grounded. This song is about that balance.

lyrics

FLY WITH ME

VERSE I:
He tucks the kids in, gives kisses goodnight
He walks on down to the liquor store
A jack and coke in the living room
He watches that show he’s been watching for years
I’ve known him well for a long, long time
I know that jack and coke is not his nightly thing

VERSE II:
So he picks up the phone and asks me,
“Can you talk? Tell me your crazy thoughts
So I don’t go insane.”
But my life’s a whirlwind
No day the same
Always some surprise, but it gets mundane

CHORUS:
And all my crazy dreams are in disarray
I can’t figure them out
But I keep chasing them down
One step forward and I go insane
But one step back and I suffocate

I’ve blocked your words with broken, open wings
But I am soaring now, and I am craving your ground
These tattered wings have flown so much air
Enough for you to breathe
And maybe fly with me

Fly with me, fly with me
Let's fly away
